Student assistent (f/m/d) wanted

The Department of Evolutionary Developmental Genetics ist searching for a student assistent to support research in the area of insect brain development and evolution in July and August (40 h/Month). The application deadline is May 10, 2024.

Job profile and qualifications:
The Department of Evolutionary Developmental Genetics is looking for a student assistant (f/m/d) to
support research in the area of insect brain development and evolution. Single cell sequencing is a
novel technique, where transcriptomes of single cells can be determined. We apply that method to
compare homologous neurons between flies and beetles.
For this purpose, prepared brains from the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster and the red flour beetle
Tribolium castaneum are required to analyze neuronal cells at the single-nuclei level using single-
nuclei RNA sequencing. Many brains need to be cleanly prepared for subsequent dissociation into
single nuclei. So, you shoud have very steady hands for the preparation of tiny brains.

Working period: The appointment starts on July 1, 2024 and is limited until August 31, 2024. In case of interest the work can be extended in form of a rotation or thesis in the winter semester or later.
To make sure that the brain preparations suit you, there will be a trial work in advance.

Remunaration: based on the applicable regulations for student assistants (MSc or BSc)

If you are interested, send a short email including information about your study programme and semester to Dr. Christine Mau (christine.mau@uni-goettingen.de) by May 10, 2024.
