From 24. – 27. September 2026 the 2nd peatland congress ‘MooreMotion’ takes place in Greifswald on the Baltic Sea coast! The Peatland Congress is aimed at all students, apprentices and young people from 18-35 years who are interested in the topic of peatlands. If you are interested, then please let us know your university, degree program, area of work and preferred language by 15.03.26 via this survey so that we can assess your interest and plan better.
You have already heard that peatlands are beautiful ecosystems and great climate protectors, but would like to learn more and find your fascination for peatlands?
We want to get peatland research moving and raise awareness of its importance among young people!
The Peatland Congress is aimed at all students, apprentices and young people from 18-35 years who are interested in the topic of peatlands. We want to provide a space to expand and deepen our knowledge together in an interdisciplinary and cross-state exchange. There will be options to present own research projects, to network and to have a lot of fun together in and with the peatlands. This year we want the focus to be on nature conservation and rewetting of peatlands.
The event will take place on the premises of the University of Greifswald and in nearby peatland areas.
You can expect a great program with beautiful excursions, exciting lectures, interactive workshops and numerous opportunities for interaction such as pub quizzes, games and a relaxed evening program, because after all, we want to celebrate the diversity of the peatlands together!

- When? Thursday 24.09. to Sunday 27.09.2026
- Where? University of Greifswald, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
- What? Lectures, excursions, poster session, workshops, pub quiz, party and much more related to peatlands
- Who? Apprentices, Bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral students and young people from 18-35 from all disciplines who are interested in peatlands – no matter how much or little you already know about them!
- What does it cost? We will charge a contribution towards the cost of meals, accommodation and transport to excursions. Last year this cost was around 25 € – more information will follow with the registration form.
