Student assistant job: Become a Welcome Guide for fellow students (September-October 2026)

Dear students of our master’s programmes CoBi, BEEC, DNB and MLS,

Our international master’s programmes naturally accommodate students from all over the world. In order to support the international students in their start in Göttingen, the faculty engages Welcome Guides for them. You are invited to apply for a contract as student assistant (studentische Hilfskraft) to help your future fellow students get started in Göttingen. Application deadline is the 31.05.2026.

  • Contract period: 01.09.2026-31.10.2026 (2 month), 20 hours/month
  • Flexible working time in agreement with first-year students

Expected tasks could be:

  • support with application forms for residence permit, health insurance, opening a bank account and more (check out information by Göttingen International)
  • Documents are often printed in German -> translation needed.
  • Pick up at trains station and first steps in Göttingen
  • First steps at the university: Select courses/plan curriculum/find lecture halls
  • Maybe general introduction sessions: guided tour campus/how to register for courses/… -> we will create useful tasks together
  • Your work will probably be done online/per email/chat, and face-to-face at visits. It depends on what you agree on.

We look forward to receiving your application to the programme by email by 31.05.2026. Please state

  • the reason why you want to participate
  • which languages you speak
  • what experience you already have in the context of required tasks
  • in which period of time you can be bindingly on site in Göttingen (for the contract it is important to be in Göttingen for the whole contract period and to be able to sign the contract latest at the end of August)

Note: No contract possible if:

  • you are employed at the UMG during the above-mentioned period
  • residence permit does not cover contract period (at the time of application)

In case of questions feel free to reach out to us,

Best regards,
Your office of studies,
